Colby Cave

NHL Forward and member of the Edmonton Oilers hockey organization, Colby Cave has sadly passed away according to multiple reports. Cave unfortunately suffered a brain bleed a few days prior to passing which led to him being placed in a medically induced coma.
Following his passing, the Oilers confirmed Cave’s death with a statement form his wife, Emily.
“I and both our families are in shock but know our Colby was loved dearly by us, his family and friends, the entire hockey community, and many more. We thank everyone for their prayers during this difficult time,” the statement said.
Cave grew up playing hockey in Battlefield, Saskatchewan. He was drafted 13th overall by the Kootenay Ice in the 2009 WHL draft. After a successful junior career, Cave was signed as an undrafted free agent by Boston Bruins in 2015.
After three seasons playing for Boston’s AHL affiliate in Providence, Cave was placed on waivers and signed by the Oilers.
Following his passing, Oilers chairmen Bob Nicholson and GM Hen Holland released a joint statement. “We wanted to express our deepest condolences to the family and friends of our teammate Colby Cave. Colby was a terrific teammate with great character, admired and liked everywhere he played.”
Colby is survived by his wife Emily, family friends, and teammates.
